The Poetry Games are on!

We've had a massive response to The Poetry Games in the past week with lots of students getting involved and writing poems about topics that really mean something to them. We've going poems ranging from poverty to war to child abuse - it's great to see you all getting so enthusiastic!

Remember Flegg's deadline for the poems is Monday the 26th November giving you another week from tomorrow. Keep those poems coming in!

In other news our Year 9s are producing some fantastic work as part of their Creative Writing unit in English at the moment - you may see your work if it has been recommended by your teacher up here very soon so watch this space!

Happy writing :)

...Aaand we're back!

So after quite a long break, Creative Writing @ Flegg is back up and running! Well done to those of you who entered the National Poetry Day competition - two winners were chosen! One winner for their beautiful interpretation of their chosen 'Stars' poem and one for their own poem written about their fave star - Olly Murs! Winner's work and runners up can be seen in the Creative Writing display board in the English block. Well done again!

Now we're turning our attention to our second competition of the year being run by 'Young Writers'. Whether you've read The Hunger Games or not (though it is a fabulous read!), you can get yourself involved in 'The Poetry Games' and be in with a chance of winning a Kindle, iPad, and even being on the Young Writer's YouTube channel.

To enter is simple: Write a poem about something you believe in, or that really matters to you, in no more than 30 lines and hand it to Miss Kemal along with an application form by the 26th of November!

For more info come see Miss Kemal!

Happy writing :)
